Welcome!

My name is Laurie, and I am happy to welcome you to BioLyra Health. My work through BioLyra Health brings together my three areas of expertise: medical librarianship, healthcare (clinical laboratories and clinical data), and health coaching. Throughout my career, I have been drawn to helping people understand complex information and navigate systems that can often feel confusing or overwhelming.

Like many in healthcare, my career has been influenced by personal experiences with complex health issues. My journey involves years of searching for answers to a mysterious set of symptoms, helping my mother manage a long-term chronic illness, and supporting a family member with disabilities. These moments have deepened my understanding of how overwhelming medical information and healthcare systems can be, and strengthened my resolve to help others find clarity, trustworthy information, and compassionate support during difficult times.

I hold a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and spent many years working in various types of libraries: university, medical, and public, where I helped clinicians, researchers, and patients locate and interpret medical information.

In addition, I am an ASCP Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist, which provided hands-on experience within healthcare and a deep understanding of laboratory testing and medical diagnostics.

I later became a Certified Health & Well-Being Coach, expanding my work to include supportive conversations that help individuals make meaningful, sustainable changes to their health.

I also worked on the tech and data sides of healthcare and nonprofits, serving as a network administrator and oncology data specialist, among other roles.
